Celebrating Dr. Seuss at the Warrenton Aquatic Center

Dr. Seuss’s birthday was celebrated with Cat in the Hat-themed crafts, games and more at the Warrenton Aquatic Center on March 2.

It was a way to bring fun and education to the pool, Tami Wurth, the pool’s aquatic manager said.

“We wanted to incorporate some of that into the pool,” Wurth said. “We wanted to have a fun activity that they could just come out to on a weekend day and be able to play some games and do some crafts and just swim.”

Wurth said the pool didn’t have any expectation on the number of kids who would participate, but she said they planned for 100.

“We have a ring toss. We have a pin the bow tie on the Cat in the Hat. We have a throw-toss game. And then we also have two crafts.”

Those crafts included making bookmarks and using construction paper, paper plates, and glue sticks to create a Cat in the Hat mask.

It’s just one of the many activities at the pool, which always includes open swims from noon to 5:45 p.m. on Saturdays.

“We love for people to come in and we hope to offer a lot more activities in the future,” Wurth said.
