On Wednesday July 17, the Big Red Booster Club will host its 27th annual golf tournament at the Warrenton Golf Course to help fundraise for athletic programs in both middle school and high school. 

The Big Red Booster Club was established to help provide student athletes in the Warren County R-III School District the resources they need for their respective sport. Events, such as this golf tournament, provide the sports teams with extra money for sports equipment, jerseys, trips and more, according to organizers.

The club is constantly fundraising throughout the year, but the annual golf tournament is seen as one of the main events. 

The highly anticipated event will have a 9 a.m. shotgun time with a three-person scramble. The tournament has a limit of 60 teams and typically the club has a full tournament. 

For a team of three to play, the cost is $300 total and $100 per golfer. People that want to support but do not want to play golf can also sign up for the $50 dinner. 

Sponsorships are always welcomed by the booster club as well. Companies can buy sponsorships that will vary from $30-$600. 

The club does not have a projected number on how much money they would like to raise, but did note that anything helps and is a great asset to the club.  

Throughout the day, golfers will not only get to play golf, but they can also participate in mini competitions for cash prizes. These competitions will include whoever has the longest drive, longest putt and the golfer who can get their ball closest to the hole. 

In addition, there will also be a 50/50 raffle from mulligans, Ron’s Catering will provide a steak dinner and adult beverages will be available. 

The club has not changed much since the golf tournament first started, but they appreciate the support given each year, organizers said.
