Swim Across America St. Louis held its ninth annual open water swim to raise money for Siteman Cancer Center on Saturday. The event was once again hosted by the Innsbrook resort and held on Alpine Lake.
The event was divided between half-mile, one-mile and two-mile swimmers with over 500 participants in the water. Participants were able to raise over $280,000 and counting for the cancer center, according to organizer Bill Wilson.
The funds will be allocated to Dr. Melissa Reimers’ prostate cancer clinical trials at the cancer center and donations can still be made on Swim Across America’s website at www.swimacrossamerica.org/stlouis and donations will be accepted until Oct. 1.
