Haas, Koper named GAC North Player, Coach of Year

Warrenton’s first outright conference championship in 28 years led to a plethora of conference awards. 

Warrenton junior Austin Haas and Warrenton head coach Jason Koper led the way with GAC North Player and Coach of the Year honors. 

Haas, who was also named to the GAC North first team as a running back, was one of nine Warriors named to the GAC North first team. Haas finished conference play with 786 yards rushing and 12 rushing touchdowns in four conference games. He led the conference in both categories. Haas also registered 165 yards receiving and one receiving touchdown in conference play. 

Koper was named GAC North Coach of the Year after leading Warrenton to their first outright conference title in 28 years. Warrenton finished the regular season with a 9-0 record and a 4-0 record in the GAC North. 

Five other Warrenton offensive players were also named to the GAC North first team. Senior Charlie Blondin was named to the first team at quarterback. In his first full season at quarterback for Warrenton, Blondin led the conference with 789 yards passing in conference games. He threw six touchdowns in conference games. 

Freshman Chance McPike and junior Mason Thompson both were named to the GAC North first team at wide receiver. Thompson led the conference with 293 receiving yards in conference games. He had two receiving touchdowns in conference play. Chance McPike had 78 yards receiving and a touchdown in conference games. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown against St. Charles. 

Kyle Lauck and Jack Morris were both named to the GAC North first team offensive line. 

The Warriors had a first team selection at all three levels of their defense. Javon Jones was named to the first team defensive line. Jones finished conference play tied for the conference lead with eight sacks in four conference games. He had 23 solo tackles. Kadin Stroer was named to the GAC North first team as a linebacker. Stroer finished with 17 solo tackles and one sack in four conference games. Brandon Johnson was named to the first team as a defensive back. Johnson finished first in the conference with four interceptions in conference games. He registered 14 solo tackles and one sack. 

Six Warriors were named to the GAC North second team. Chance Klasing and Alex Wilson were named to the GAC North second team offensive line. Treyvian Guthrie and Jacob Ruff were named to the second team defensive line. Joe Goldsmith was named to the second team as a linebacker and Peyton Dawson was named to the second team as a defensive back. 

Carter Tittel received the GAC North sportsmanship award. 

Cole Meyer, Peyton Dawson, Joe Goldsmith, Treyvian Guthrie, Austin Haas, Chance Klasing, Jack Morris, Logan Nichols, Jacob Ruff, Evan Schenck, Kadin Stroer, Carter Tittel, Alex Wilson, Tyler Faerber and Jack White received GAC North academic honors.
