Five Warriors win varsity events at GAC North meet

Five Warrenton athletes earned first place finishes in varsity competitions at the GAC North track and field meet last week. 

Three boys track and field athletes won varsity events during the competition. Zachariah Bristol won the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.76. The Warriors also won a pair of field events. Deacon Forrest won the high jump with a mark of 1.79 meters. Colton Brosenne won the triple jump competition. He finished with a mark of 13.05 meters. 

Two Lady Warrior athletes also took home first place finishes at the conference meet. Morgan Marschel won the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.94. Avery Shaw won the shot put competition. She finished with a mark of 10.44 meters. 

Warrenton also recorded second place finishes in several events. Bristol placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.38. Wyatt Claiborne placed second in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:24.47. Madelyn Marschel placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:30.69. The Warriors also placed second in three relay races. Bristol, Brosenne, Peyton Dawson and Anthony Lombardo placed second in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.55. Claiborne, Deacon Forest, Guerrero and Kackley placed second in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 8:57.04. The Lady Warriors also placed second in one relay. Briana Grooms, Madelyn Marschel, Morgan Marschel and Isabelle Morris placed second in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 10:50.63. 

The Warrenton girls track and field team placed second in the conference. They finished the meet with 108 team points. The Warrenton boys track and field team placed fourth in the competition. They finished with 78 team points. 

Warrenton took home first place finishes in seven junior varsity events. Makayla Witthaus placed first in the javelin and shot put competitions at the junior varsity level. Adrianna Hollaway took first place in the discus competition. MyKenzy Sebastian placed first in the 100-meter dash competition at the junior varsity level. Deadrick Forrest took home first place in the triple jump and Kyle Lauck took home first place in the javelin competition at the junior varsity level. The Lady Warriors took home first place in the junior varsity 4x100-meter relay. Morgan Guerin, Taryn Sharp, Paige Sommer and Sebastian placed first in the competition. 

The Warrenton varsity track and field teams are slated to compete Saturday at the Class 4, District 4 meet at North Point High School.
