Warrenton High School incoming senior Austin Haas was recently named to the Class 5 all-state catchers team as an honorable mention. Haas is not a stranger to this list, as he was also named to the Class 4 all-state offensive second team for football earlier in the school year.

During this past baseball season, Haas was the catcher and lead-off hitter for the Warriors. He helped his team to a program record of 22 wins in a season and ended his junior season with 41 runs, 32 stolen bases and 15 RBI’s.

Haas was also named GAC North player of the year, first team all-conference and first team all-district.

Now, after being named to the all-state list, Haas has a big decision to make on whether or not he will play football in college or baseball. This incoming senior still has time to make this decision, but noted it was going to be a difficult one.

Has being named to the all-state team in both football and baseball impacted your decision on which sport you will play in college?

“Yes, I think it makes it even tougher now, because now I’ve kinda matched it in both sports and it's come down to what do I really want to do. If anything, it made it harder but that’s not a bad thing at all, I think that’s a great thing and I’m glad to be able to have that opportunity.”
