Wright City welcomes new assistant superintendent

Posted

On July 1, Holly Broadway-Yates officially became a Wildcat and started as the new assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction and assessment in the Wright City R-II School District. Yates, who is now entering her second week of work, has enjoyed her time so far.

“I’ve enjoyed getting to know the people of the Wright City school district so far. Everybody here is wonderful to work with and very welcoming,” Yates said. “I look forward to when everybody comes back and I get to meet the staff and students.”

When Yates first saw the job posting, she knew she had to apply because it was exactly what she was looking for and it was also her dream job.

“I’ve been blessed with the opportunity,” Yates said. “When I went through the interview process here, it just felt right and good. I loved the people and I just had a lot of excitement to join the Wildcat family.”

Yates has worked numerous jobs in public education, such as principal, assistant principal, music teacher, band teacher and district director. She has also worked in multiple school districts in Missouri, including Francis Howell, North Callaway and Fulton.

Her last job was in the Fulton School District where she worked for over 10 years.

At Wright City, Yates plans to focus on academics, supporting the staff, improving attendance and building relationships.

More specifically, the new assistant superintendent is looking forward to seeing the MAP data that will be released shortly to see where she can help, communicating with parents on attendance and supporting families that move into the district who do not speak English as their first language.

“My biggest goal is to support the students, the teachers and the building leaders in what they do every day,” Yates said.

With this being her first year in the district, she does not plan on making big changes or changing things that are already going well.

Instead, Yates will use this year to shape relationships with people in the community and learn what she said is the “Wright City Way.”

“I’m very excited to get to know the people, the community and support the great things that are already going on here,” Yates said.
