The Wright City wrestling team recorded a tie and had one loss in a triangular event last Thursday. The Wildcats fell 66-12 to St. James and battled to a 18-18 tie with Christian.
David Riggs and Riley Shive were the lone Wildcats to win in both duals. Kaylob Stufflebean also recorded one win against Christian.
Last Tuesday, Wright City fell 48-18 in a dual match with Orchard Farm. Riggs had the lone win in a contested match. Dominic Le Noir and Shive also had forfeit wins.
Two Wright City girls competed at the Seckman Tournament Saturday and both came home with medals. Samantha Yates split both of her matches at 107 pounds and placed second. At 117, Elizabeth Riggs won three of her five matches to capture third.
The Liberty Christian boys basketball team nearly blew a double-digit lead in the second half but managed to hang on for a 57-56 win over Mid-Missouri Home School Monday night.
The Eagles, who improved to 12-7, received 20 points from Cole Christian. Josh Dames and B. Wilmsmeyer followed with 17 and 14 points, respectively. Liberty Christian led by four after the opening quarter and used a 14-4 run in the second quarter to take control.
The Liberty Christian girls basketball team has now won its last seven games, its latest coming in a 62-15 route of Mid-Missouri Home School on Monday.
Addison Roden had a team-best 18 points, followed by 12 points from Andrea Mueller. Annabeth Colbert made three three-pointers for nine points and Sophi Mueller followed with eight. The Eagles (19-5) jumped ahead 25-4 in the first quarter and held a 35-8 advantage at halftime.
A win eluded the Warrenton boys basketball team as it lost all three games in last week’s Union Tournament.
In Saturday’s seventh-game contest, the Warriors fell 64-29 to Union. Joe Goldsmith had a team-high 14 points, followed by Andrew Cox with seven. They trailed 22-11 in the first quarter and 42-19 at halftime.
Warrenton opened the tournament last Tuesday with a 60-22 loss to Washington. The Warriors were held to single digits in every quarter and trailed 40-11 at intermission. Goldsmith was the lone player to reach double figures with 10 points.
In the tournament’s second game last Thursday, Warrenton lost 72-48 to Lutheran South. Troy Anderson had 15 points, all coming on three-pointers. Goldsmith also reached double figures with 12 points.
