Wright City earns doubleheader sweep

The Wright City Wildcats reached the 15-win mark with a pair of wins this weekend. 

Wright City (15-7) beat Hermann and Linn in a doubleheader Saturday at Linn High School. 

The Wildcats beat Linn 14-2 in five innings in the first game of the day. Wright City drew 11 walks and registered seven hits in the win. Devin Foust and Nick Moore each reached base three times on a hit and two walks. The Wildcats stole 22 bases as a team. Moore and Duan McRoberts led the way with four stolen bases each. Micah Boeckman, Jake Orf and Hayden Waters each stole three stolen bases in the win. Zach Rodriguez led Wright City with two RBIs. Trey Brakensiek earned the win for Wright City. Brakensiek pitched five innings and gave up two earned runs on three hits and three walks. He struck out eight Linn batters in the win. 

Wright City followed up their win over Linn with a 7-0 win over Hermann. Wright City scored all their runs in the second, third and fourth innings in the win. McRoberts, Moore and Blaine Niemann each recorded two hits hits. Niemann led Wright City with two RBIs. Moore stole three bases in the win. Waters pitched seven shutout innings in his longest outing of the season. He surrendered three hits and struck out seven Hermann batters in the win. 

Wright City earned their eighth conference win last week with a 13-3 win over Wellsville. Moore and Bryce Williams each recorded three hits in the win. Orf, Williams and Jake Mitts each had two RBIs. McRoberts and Moore each had three runs. Boeckman led Wright City with five stolen bases. The Wildcats stole 17 stolen bases in the game. Mitts earned the win on the mound for the Wildcats. He pitched 3 ⅓ hitless innings. He struck out four batters in the win. 

Wright City is slated to square off against St. Charles West in the Class 4, District 6 semifinals Monday.
