Downtown Warrenton was filled with music, and people, on Saturday, Sept. 21 for the annual Fall Festival.
Attendees walked the streets perusing the booths of over 80 vendors selling everything from food and drinks to even Lego Minifigures.
There were also musical performances throughout the day from Butchwax and the Hollywoods and Russo & Co. before Lonestar took the main stage later that evening.
Butchwax and the Hollywoods and Russo & Co. both performed on the east stage in front of the Ernst Schowengerdt House. Throughout the afternoon there were concertgoers gathered on the street and adjacent yards in lawn chairs and on the dance floor taking in the scenes.
The city also hosted cornhole on Thurman Street with competitors tossing bags back and forth in the afternoon, including Mayor Eric Schlueter and Alderman Scott Schulze.
Families were also delighted at the Kids’ Korner where there were inflatables and balloon animals as well as the entertaining acts of Circus Kaput later in the afternoon.
Circus attendees were able to see performances from Circus Kaput members that included sword swallowing, trapeze acts, and performances with whips and fire breathing.
Warrenton Director of Operations Jon Struckhoff was pleased with how the festival went, and said it compared well to previous years’ fall festivals.
Struckhoff also said that he heard from several attendees that some of the vendors even ran out of food before the festival’s conclusion, evidence of the strong turnout the city saw.
“I think it all went very well,” said Struckhoff. “We drew a big crowd, the band was great, and the weather held off.”
Earlier forecasts had predicted rain that afternoon and evening, and although many surrounding areas felt the weather, Warrenton was largely spared from the downpours.
Although the City of Warrenton does not have any other large community events planned in the near future, other municipalities in the county will have their own in the coming weeks.
Wright City will be hosting its annual Strassenbash in Diekroeger Park and Innsbrook will host its first annual “Nash Bash” Music Fest, both on Oct. 5.
