Two Wright City girls wrestlers kept their season alive with a strong performance at Saturday’s Class 1, District 3 Tournament.

Junior Samantha Byerley and freshman Elizabeth Riggs both qualified for the sectional round with third-place finishes.

At 122 pounds, Riggs went 2-2 at districts. She was pinned by Dyoni Mundy of Palmyra in the third-place match.

The sectional round will be held Feb. 20. The top four finishers in each weight class will advance to the state championships scheduled for March 9 in Independence.
