To the Editor,
Volodymir Zelensky spoke to a gathering of the US Congress on Wednesday, March 16. Some of his closing words, spoken in English, were: Today, the Ukrainian people are defending not only Ukraine, we are fighting for the values of Europe and the world to give the planet the life to keep justice in history. Now, I am almost 45 years old. Today, my heart stopped when the hearts of more than 100 children stopped beating. I see no sense in life if it can not stop the deaths. And this is my main issue as the leader of my people, great Ukrainians.
I have wondered what it would take for the occurrence of: They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks (Micah 4:3). My hope is, in the future, the world will use some of its resources previously spent to defend humanity to enhance the lives of humanity.
