Seven area wrestlers qualify for state tournament

Six Warrenton wrestlers qualified for the state tournament after placing at this weekend's Class 3, District 2 tournament. 

Jacob Ruff went 4-0 over the two-day tournament to win a district title in the 190-pound weight class. Ruff pinned each of his first three opponents. He pinned David Glenn of Ft. Zumwalt East in the semifinals to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Ruff beat Jaren Jackson of DeSmet on a 5-0 decision in the district championship match. 

Anthony Lombardo placed second in the 157-pound weight class, with his only loss coming in overtime. Lombardo won his first three matches, including an 8-7 tiebreaker victory over Jayden McCaster of DeSmet in the the semifinals. Lombardo dropped his first place match to Koen Erickson in overtime. Erickson won the match 3-1 on a sudden victory. 

Jeremiah Kassing, Joshua Kassing and Manny McCauley each placed third in their weight class. All three wrestlers rebounded from a semifinal loss to win their final two matches of the tournament to place third. 

Noah Lohrmann won a pair of matches and placed fourth in the 126-pound weight class. 

Wright City senior David Riggs won a pair of matches to place fourth in the 138-pound weight class at the Class 2, District 2 tournament. Riggs pinned Ayden Amos of Winfield in the consolation semifinals to punch his ticket to the state tournament.
