McCauley, Ruff lead Warriors at Harrisonville

A pair of top-three finishes helped the Warrenton Warriors earn a 13th place finish out of 20 varsity teams at the Harrisonville Tournament last weekend. 

Emanuel McCauley led the Warriors with a second place finish in the 106-pound weight class. McCauley beat Tanner Putt of Carthage on a 3-2 decision and Dayton Dunn of Warrensburg 19-2 to move on to the quarterfinals. He beat Grant Schuster of Mid-Buchanan 11-0 and Adarein Hawkins of Smith Cotton 15-0 to advance to the championship match. McCauley fell to Tommy Miller of Marlow 5-3 in the championship match. 

Jacob Ruff placed third in the 190-pound weight class. Ruff split his first two matches in the opening round of the competition. Ruff beat Devlin Patton of Branson in 2:56. Ruff beat CJ Nelson of Van Horn on a 3-2 decision in the quarterfinals. After Ruff was pinned by Wade Stanton of Mid-Buchanan in the semifinals, Ruff beat Cody Suthoff of Helias on a 9-3 decision in the third place match. 

Noah Lohrmann won five matches in the 126-pound weight class to place fourth. Lohrmann won all four matches in the opening round. He pinned Gabe Hunter of the Harrisonville junior varsity team, Jayden Welch of Warrensburg and Ryan Wilkey of Rockwood Summit. He beat Charlie Reid of St. Charles 13-3. Lohrmann earned his fifth win of the day in the quarterfinals. He beat Grant Leninger of Southern Boone 11-7 to advance to the semifinals. Lohrmann dropped a match to Sam Melton of Carl Junction in the semifinals and Gehrig Furr of Marlow in the third place match. 

Levi Penrod and Anthony Lombardo both registered fifth place finishes for the Warriors. Competing in the 150-pound weight class, Penrod won four matches to place fifth. Penrod pinned Adrian Reinhart of Camdenton and Lincoln Keele of Smith Cotton to win his first two matches of the day. He fell to Carson Hayes of Helias in his last match of the opening round. After losing to Hunter Jennings of Southern Boone 14-2 in the quarterfinals, Penrod won his final two matches to earn a fifth place finish. Penrod beat Justin Allen of Webb City and David Halliburton of Marlow to place fifth in the 150-pound weight class. 

Lombardo also won his first two and last two matches of the day in the 157-pound weight class to place fifth. Lombardo beat Layne Grotzinger of Smith Cotton and Aidan Rose of Webb City in the opening round. After dropping his last match of the opening round to Eli Homan of Helias and his quarterfinal match to Dexter Merrell of Carl Junction, Lombardo beat Aidan Neal of Camdenton 7-2 to advance to the fifth place match. Lombardo beat Trey Nye of Carthage 2-0 in extra time for a sudden victory. 

Jeremiah Kassing won three matches in the 120-pound weight class and finished eighth. Charles Brake and Nicholas Schulze also won a pair of matches. Brake placed 11th in the 113-pound weight class. Schulze placed 10th in the 132-pound weight class. 

Warrenton is scheduled to compete in a dual at Washington Jan. 4.
