The Liberty Christian Eagles were unable to overcome a slow start in their loss to Wellsville-Middletown last week.
Liberty Christian (2-11) fell to Wellsville-Middletown 38-27 last week. The Eagles got down early, trailing 11-2 after the first quarter. The Eagles played the Tigers even in the middle two quarters to keep the game within nine points heading into the final quarter. Liberty Christian outscored Wellsville-Middletown 12-10 in the second quarter. The Tigers outscored the Eagles 13-11 in the third quarter. Both teams scored a combined six points in the final quarter. Wellsville-Middletown outscored Liberty Christian 4-2 in the final quarter.
Senior Zach Dames led the Eagles with 12 points. He was the only Liberty Christian player to reach double figures in points in the loss. Dames also led the Eagles with six rebounds and three assists. Junior Jack Duvel finished the game with eight points. Freshman Willie Mueller added five points for the Eagles.
Liberty Christian is slated to play at Elsberry. Thursday.
