Letter: Restoring our values

To the Editor,

May we suggest to the people of our city, and to our great State of Missouri, that we need to turn this great country of ours around and “Make it Great Again!” We have chosen to ignore what’s been happening right here at home. Right has become wrong, and wrong has become right. Why, we can’t even obey our speed limits! We have approved whatever feels good, or lazily say, “OK, it will come out in the wash.” But it won’t!

We continue to be blind and become hard-hearted, saying, “Oh, it’s just another abortion,” and “Gee, what a shame they got a divorce.” Since when is homosexuality OK, or sex change, or lying? Who decides that’s OK? These writers do not say that it’s OK. Our hearts hurt for those hard-hearted people. Where are the strong dads, the heads of the household? And the moms who used to teach their children to be God-fearing and disciplined them with a paddle on their behinds, when they did what was wrong? But no, now it’s “time out.” That’s not a teaching process. What a shame for those children of ours, that are going to hell in a handbasket.

Why do we accept what our government says our poor teachers must teach — sex and the trash they are getting today. My wife and I thank God for the home schoolers. They are building our country back up with history and what our forefathers did for this, still great, country of ours. And they are teaching our children common, ordinary sense. What happened to common sense? And more, they are getting wisdom and knowledge. Even more, in most cases they are learning about the Bible and our real creator, God.

Oh yeah! God, remember Him? Our God. Have you noticed how He hasn’t been around very much lately? Why should He be, the way we’ve been treating Him? He wrote a rule book, the Bible, remember? We have taken our God out of everything — schools, churches, you name it. Do you know something, His Holy Word says, “He gives us Government.” It’s true! Now do you know why we are in the sad shape we are in. He is disciplining us. And yet, our friends, He tells us that “He loves us.” We sing God Bless America. Ask yourself, our friends, “Why should He?”

It is time we rethink the trouble we ourselves are causing by not changing our morals, and get back to teaching our children right is right and wrong is wrong — or else our children are going to suffer some really bad consequences. It will be our fault!

We ask you to pray if you are a Christian, or become one, then pray. Call your Missouri Congressman or a representative. They won’t intimidate you. Tell them what you want done and how you feel, and that you want to see some moral changes made. (573) 635-7232. They won’t bite!

Oh, and by the way, find a church and go there with the family next Sunday. They don’t bite either.
