Letter: Grateful for Day of Prayer

Posted

To the Editor,

Last Thursday, the first Thursday in May, was National Day of Prayer. The day began with a drizzling rain. Our gathering was to be held outside in front of the Municipal Building. I had received several calls from our presenters, people giving brief speeches and offering prayers. But I had every confidence that God would stop the rain between noon and 1:00, and indeed, He did.

But as wonderful as that was, I was so impressed by the number of people who decided to come, despite the rain, and be with each other to worship the Lord and give thanks for our blessed country. We had about 45 spectators, people who braved the rain (and the stopping of it), to be with each other and to give praise. It is such a blessing to live in a city that will publicly proclaim the Lord.

I also want to thank our mayor, Eric Schleuter, for his permission to meet in front of the Municipal Building. It is so important to gather in a public, open spot and make our praises heard.
Thank you, Warrenton.
