To The Editor,
I urge my fellow Warrenton citizens to vote “Yes” on the proposed increase in the property tax for the fire department.
This is a complete reversal from my opposition to the increase in sales taxes for the fire department. My opposition to the sales tax increase was based on the fact that we have one of the highest sales taxes in the state of Missouri. Large sales taxes are anti-business and cause businesses to locate or move to areas with lower sales taxes.
I continue to urge the fire department administration to further evaluate the need to respond to all ambulance calls. I can see the need for police response, but seriously question the need for fire apparatus at most ambulance calls.
