Lester August Bakameyer

Mr. Lester August Bakameyer of Warrenton, passed away on Wednesday, April 10. He was born on October 12, 1939, in Warrenton, to the late Walter and Ella Bakameyer (nee: Schwerdt). Lester had reached the age of 84 years.

Lester was united in marriage to Sharon Bakameyer (nee: Twiehaus) on March 22, 1975, in Warrenton, and shared 46 wonderful years together before her passing in 2021. He was the loving father to Kristi and Jeff.

Lester enjoyed spending much of his time on the family farm, whether it be taking care of the cattle or hunting and fishing. He also loved to go trot lining out on the river. He was a longtime member of the Treloar coffee club where he would solve the world's problems with his family and friends, an avid Cardinal Baseball fan, and a master of the remote control. He looked forward to taking trips to the casino with family and friends and was a devoted player of the Publishers Clearinghouse. What meant the most to him was spending time with his family and being involved in all of his grandkids activities. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. 

Those whom are grateful for having shared in Lester's life are his children, Kristi Bakameyer, Jeff (Jody) Bakameyer; his grandchildren, Kinsey Bakameyer, and Hunter Bakameyer; his siblings, Shirley Buxton, Harold (Phyllis) Bakameyer, and Edna (Tommy) Surls, and his brother in-law, Mike (Dee Dee) Twiehaus; and sister-in-law, Terri Lenzenhuber; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Lester is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon; his parents, Walter and Ella Bakameyer; his siblings, Ralph Bakameyer, Fritz Bakameyer, and Irene Leesmann; his in-laws, Tom Lenzenhuber, Merle Buxton, Charles Leesmann, and Betty Bakameyer.

A visitation for Lester will be held from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, with a 6 p.m. Celebration of Life service to immediately follow at Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. Burial will take place at a later date at Lippstadt Cemetery with full Military Honors. Memorial donations are appreciated to Warren County FFA or Lippstadt Cemetery in c/o Martin Funeral Home.
