Wright City senior Austin Kirn received a pair of all-state soccer honors.
The Wright City midfielder was named to the Class 2 all-state team as an honorable mention. Kirn was previously named to the Class 2, District 4 first team. Kirn was also named to the academic all-state team.
“Austin brought everything he had to make this year special,” Wright City boys soccer coach Josh Albregts said. “His leadership allowed for the team to grow as a unit rather than just a bunch of individuals playing a game. We were better when he was in the lineup.”
Kirn led the Wildcats with nine assists this past season. He finished second on the team with nine goals. The Wildcats finished the season with 10 wins.
“I wish I would have been able to have been a bigger part of his career rather than just one year,” Albregts said. “That would have been really special for me as well as what we are building here with the soccer program. He earned it and no one can take that away from him.”
