Jon Luetkemeyer

Mr. Jon Jay Henry Luetkemeyer of Warrenton passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at DePaul Hospital. He was born on August 13, 1940, in Warrenton to the late Erwin F (Jay) and Viola (nee: Stoff) Luetkemeyer. Jon had reached the age of 81 years.

Jon proudly served his country in The United States Army from 1959-to 1962 and was then united in marriage to Carol Frances Stonebarger on March 16, 1963, in Warrenton. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before her passing in 2021. To this union, four children were born, Shannon, Tammy, Karen and Matt. He and Carol attended College United Methodist Church. Jon was a lifelong carpenter. He built many homes in the Warren County area as well as several remodels. After "retiring" from the construction industry, he worked for the City of Warrenton. He was on the board for the Warren County Ambulance District and volunteered for the Warrenton Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Warrenton Jaycees for many years. Jon enjoyed mowing his grass, having coffee with his buddies, and he always had time to watch another episode of Gunsmoke. Jon was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Jon Luetkemeyer was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol; his parents, Jay and Vi; and one sister, Ruth Alice Luetkemeyer. Those family members who will remain grateful for having shared in Jon's life are his daughters, Shannon Owenby and husband Doug, Tammy Williams and husband Jeremy, and Karen Luetkemeyer; son, Matthew Luetkemeyer and wife Betsy; 6 grandchildren, Tyler Owenby and wife Lauren, Mitchell Owenby and wife Jennifer, Wes Luetkemeyer, Jared Williams, Jake Luetkemeyer, and Maggie Luetkemeyer; 3 great-grandchildren, Henry, Faith and Landon; 2 brothers, Kenneth Luetkemeyer and Gene Luetkemeyer and wife Marcella; other relatives and many friends.

A visitation for Jon will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, beginning at 10 a.m., also at the funeral home. A graveside service with full military honors will also be held on Saturday at Warrenton City Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
