A pair of first place finishes helped the Wright City Lady Wildcats place second at the St. Clair Invitational last weekend.
Kali Jensen and Elizabeth Riggs both went undefeated to win their weight classes. Wrestling in the 115-pound weight class, Jensen went 5-0 to win the weight class. Jensen pinned all five of her opponents in a combined 3:48.
Riggs went 4-0 on the day to win the 120-pound weight class. Riggs won her first two matches by fall to advance to the championship bracket. Riggs beat Elizabeth Adams of Owensville on an 11-2 major decision in the championship match.
Samantha Yates and Lauren Ritter also registered top-three finishes for the Lady Wildcats. Yates went 2-1 in the 105-pound weight class to place second. She pinned Josey Alfermann of Union and Brooke Eddy of Parkway West in her two wins.
Ritter placed third in the 145-pound weight class. She won two of her four matches in the tournament. She pinned Katie Summers of Sullivan and Kyra Roberson of West Plains in her two wins.
Ella Greenwell Washburn, Chloe Richardson, Hayden Scorfina and Sadie Sehnert all won two matches for the Lady Wildcats.
The Lady Wildcats earned 140 team points in the tournament.
Wright City is scheduled to compete at Seckman Saturday.
Graves, Riggs place third
Lane Graves and David Riggs both earned third place finishes at the St. Clair Invite.
Competing in the 132-pound weight class, Graves went 4-1 on the day. Graves won three matches in the opening round, beating Aiden Piediscalzi of Herculaneum, Benjamin Groves of Lift for Life and Logan Knuckles of Hillsboro. Graves pinned Camron Kean of Eldon to win the third place match.
Riggs went 3-1 in the 138-pound weight class. Riggs beat Tyler Kloeppel of Fatima and Gary Loveless of Hillsboro in the opening round. Riggs’ lone loss of the tournament came on a 4-3 decision against Levi South of St. Charles.
The Wildcats finished the competition with 45 team points.
The Wildcats are scheduled to compete at Priory Saturday.
