James "Jim" Gaddy passed away, surrounded by his family, at his home in Wright City on July 9,  at the age of 75. He was born May 5, 1949 in St. Louis, son of Harry Eugene Gaddy and Josephine (Ray) Gaddy.  Jim was one of the six Gaddy children who grew up on Conolly in the 50's.

He had an entrepreneur/business personality that started in his youth.  He owned/rented several small homes in the neighborhood, was a local notary, and worked a full time job at JC Penney as a Maintenance Manager over several locations. Jim worked hard all of his life to support his family and never let his children feel the struggle he grew up with.  He worked for Mr. Bandy in his little store at the corner of Anistasia and Sadonia as a young man, and later on in the 80's be bought, revamped, and ran the store under the name Gaddy's for several years in an attempt to keep the property the only commercial property remaining in Burke City. Jim was very selfless and always helped others as much as he could. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathryn "Kathy" (Sexton) Gaddy; his two sons, Charles "Chuck" (Robyn) Nunn and James "J.D."  Gaddy, Jr.; brother, Robert "Bob" Gaddy; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;  He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Kevin Nunn, brothers, Oscar "Oz" Gaddy, Charles "Charley" Gaddy, David "Dave" Gaddy, and sister, Dorothy "Dot" Myers.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 16, from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital St. Louis.
