Five Wildcats earn EMO conference honors

Four Wright City football players were named to the EMO conference’s first team. 

Duan McRoberts, Jeremiah Davis, Carleon Jones and Roman Adaway all earned first team conference honors. 

McRoberts earned first team honors as a running back. The sophomore had a 1,000 yard rushing season. He rushed for 861 yards and 11 touchdowns in six conference games this season. He added 60 yards and one touchdown receiving in conference games. McRoberts rushed for 1,063 yards and 15 touchdowns in nine games this regular season. He registered 90 receiving yards and a touchdown. McRoberts also threw for over 200 yards this season. 

A senior, Davis earned first team honors as a wide receiver. Davis hauled in 11 catches for 267 yards and three touchdowns in six conference games. Davis added 195 yards rushing and two touchdowns in conference play. He had 208 rushing yards and 365 receiving yards on the season. 

Davis was also named to the EMO second team as a linebacker and kick returner. Davis registered 20 solo tackles and 10 assists in conference games as one of Wright City’s starting outside linebackers. He also had two fumble recoveries, one sack and two tackles for loss. He had 33 solo tackles and 19 assists in the regular season. He added an interception in non-conference play this season. As a kick returner, Davis returned two kickoffs for touchdowns this season. 

Jones was named to the conference’s first team as a linebacker. The junior registered 22 solo tackles and 27 assists in five conference games this season. He had five tackles for loss and recovered a fumble. He registered 34 solo tackles and 38 assists in eight games this season. 

A senior, Adaway was named to the first team as an offensive lineman. He was also named to the conference’s second team at the defensive end position. Defensively, Adaway had 11 solo tackles and 23 assists in six conference games. He also had two tackles for loss. He had 19 solo tackles and 38 assists in nine regular season games. He added five tackles for loss, two sacks and one fumble recovery in the regular season. 

Senior Nate Womack was named to the conference’s second team as a defensive back. He registered 22 solo tackles, 10 assists and two tackles for loss in six conference games this season. He had 30 solo tackles, 13 assists, two tackles for loss and one interception in nine regular season games. 

Wright City finished the season with a 2-4 record in EMO conference games. They finished the season with an overall record of 4-5. 

Wright City beat Normandy 42-32 in the first round of the Class 3, District 3 tournament. They lost to St. Charles West last week in the district semifinals.
