Liberty Christian Academy dropped a road non-conference game to Elsberry last week.

Liberty Christian (2-13) fell to Elsberry 89-25. The Eagles trailed 24-3 after the first quarter and 48-10 at halftime. Liberty Christian head coach Butch Clark said the Indians have a strong team with size and quickness. He said they move the ball well in transition and can shoot well.

Clark said the Eagles needed to play their A-game to beat the Indians. The Eagles did not play anywhere near their A-game, Clark said.

“We didn’t execute,” Clark said. “We got beat for every loose ball. They just out hustled us and out fought us. We’re young, but you have to play with more heart than that. We talked about that. Our resolve is not what it needed to be. It’s one thing to get beat. It’s another thing to get beat up and embarrassed. And we let them embarrass us on the court tonight.”

Junior Jack Duvel led the Eagles with 18 points. Senior Zach Dames added five points. He led the Eagles with four assists, two steals and two blocks. Collin Bleile and Willie Mueller each scored one point. Mueller led the Eagles with six rebounds.

Liberty Christian dropped their opening game of the Bourbon Tournament earlier this week. Valley High School beat the Eagles 80-72. Duvel led the Eagles with 24 points. Dames and Mueller each recorded a double-double. Mueller finished the game with 21 points and  a team-leading 18 rebounds. Dames finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds. He also led the Eagles with five assists.
