Darlene Marie Brewe

Mrs. Darlene M Brewe (nee Hellebusch) of Marthasville, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, after a lengthy illness. She was born on September 7, 1957, in Washington, to the late Glennon and  Mary Rose (nee Ballmann) Hellebusch. Darlene had reached the young age of 65 years.

Darlene enjoyed working with farmers in various jobs in her lifetime, among them the Warren County Soil and Water District and MFA Agri-Services, Wentzville, as a bookkeeper, where she retired in December 2021. She was united in marriage to Larry H Brewe on March 23, 1974, at Concord Hill. They celebrated over 49 wonderful years together. She volunteered her time to organizations such as Homestead 4-H Club, Warrenton FFA Alumni, the Daniel Boone Post 180 American Legion Auxiliary, and New Life Church, Washington, where she served as Church Treasurer. She was an exceptionally good cook and prepared many meals for her family as they gathered for various occasions. She was always ready to play cards, games, or Mexican Train Dominoes with her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed playing softball during her younger years, loved to fish for crappie, and joined others in playing Bunco. She was dedicated to her family. She loved spending time caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren, putting their needs above hers. Darlene was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend to many. 

Darlene Brewe was preceded in death by her parents, Glennon and Mary Rose Hellebusch, and 2 siblings, Vernon Hellebusch and Stephen Hellebusch. Those family members who will remain grateful for having shared in Darlene’s life are her loving husband, Larry Brewe; children, Matthew Brewe of Odessa, and wife Jamie, Christina Swoboda of Washington, and husband Leo and Jared Brewe of Glenview, IL, and wife Anne; grandchildren Kiley (Stout) of Washington, and husband Kenny Pfeffer, Mariah Brewe, Ashlyn Stout, Jasmine Brewe, Jadyn Brewe, Aric Brewe, Daniel Swoboda, Ethan Brewe, and Zane Brewe; sisters Sharon Eslinger, Therese Scherer, Melinda Huenefeld and Janette Hedges and brother Paul Hellebusch and wife Karen; many other relatives and close family friends.

The family of Darlene Brewe will host a celebration of her life with a visitation on Tuesday, June 6, from 4 P.M. - 8 P.M. at Martin Funeral Home in Marthasville. They will then have a funeral service in her honor on  Wednesday, June 7, beginning at 10 A.M. at New Life Church in Washington, with Pastor George Dohm officiating. The family is requesting memorial donations, in lieu of flowers to be given to New Life Church c/o Martin Funeral Home.
