Mrs. Bernadine Mae Cope (nee: Avis) of Warrenton, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, at her home. She was born on December 11, 1928, in Warren County to the late Bernard and Theresa (nee: Sprick) Avis. She had reached the age of 94 years.

Bernadine was born and raised in Warren County and she spent her entire life serving in this community. She was united in marriage to Clifford Cope on December 13, 1954. This union was blessed with four daughters and one son. She was a member of Freidens United Church of Christ for many years, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and also sang in the choir.  Bernadine was employed at the Warren County RII School District for several years. She enjoyed her job and enjoyed the children she met while there. When she was younger she loved bowling. She once bowled a 300 and received a trophy, an accomplishment she was proud of. Bernadine was also a proud grandma. She thoroughly enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with each of them. Bernadine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.

Bernadine Cope was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clifford; one son, Michael Cope; her parents, Bernard and Theresa Avis; three siblings, Homer Avis, Olen Avis and June Myers. She is survived by her four daughters, Cathy Cronin and husband Edward, Theresa Richardson and husband Larry, Melissa Dempsey and husband Jack, Paula Brock and husband Bradley; 15 grandchildren, Michael Wayne Cope Jr., Rebecca Byers, Kelly Spence, Kevin Cronin, Kerrie Schwartz, James Johnson, Dale Krause, Christina Krause, Tracy Krause, Sarah Lavy, Mary Tobin, Kristin Graham, Rachel Rivera, Hannah Brock, Matthew Brock; 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; daughter in law, Linda; several cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and close family friends.

The family of Bernadine Mae Cope will be hosting a Celebration of her life on Tuesday, June 27, at Martin Funeral Home with a visitation from 10 A.M. - 12 P.M. Funeral services will then begin at 12 P.M. A burial will follow at the Warrenton City Cemetery. Memorial donations made in honor of Bernadine Cope are suggested to Freidens UCC Memorial Fund, c/o Martin Funeral Home.
