Liberty Christian girls pick up two more wins

The Liberty Christian girls basketball team had no trouble in its two most recent games, beating Maryville Christian 66-38 on Friday and pummeling Mississippi Valley Christian 74-27 last Tuesday.

The two victories improved the Eagles’ record to 22-6 heading into this week.

In Friday’s contest, Alli Meyer led a trio of players in double figures with a game-high 24 points. Anna Meyer and Sophi Mueller followed with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Liberty Christian jumped ahead 30-11 in the first quarter and led 42-21 at halftime.

Three days earlier, the Eagles received another balanced offensive attack with 10 players having at least two points in the win. Gracie Foran had a team-high 16 points, with Alli Meyer chipping in with 12 and Annabeth Colbert following with 11.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Liberty Christian boys win pair of games

The Liberty Christian boys basketball team recorded its 15th win of the season with a thrilling fourth quarter comeback Friday night.

The Eagles (15-8) used a 23-11 run in the final quarter to edge Maryville Christian 58-53. They had trailed by seven after the first three quarters. Senior Brayden Wilmsmeyer had a double-double, scoring 29 points and hauling in 10 rebounds. Josh Dames had 19 points and Caleb Schneider chipped in with eight.

Earlier in the week, Liberty Christian defeated Mississippi Valley Christian 66-44 on Feb. 9. Dames led the way with 21 points, followed by Wilmsmeyer’s 17 points. The Eagles led 32-17 at halftime.

Winfield 76, Warrenton 32

The Warriors remain stuck on one win this season as they fell behind by 16 points in the opening quarter in Friday’s conference road loss. 

Warrenton was led by Troy Anderson, who made all four of his shots from the field, including three treys, for a team-best 11 points. Andrew Cox and Kolby Meine followed with seven points apiece.
